Poem By Gladys
Thank you, Lord, for Hillside Chapel.
For our Pastor and family.
Please help us to work together
In meeting Llewellyn's needs.

Thank you, Lord, for Your blessings.
Thank you for answered prayers.
Thank you for Your love and mercy,
And for soothing all our cares.

May we all stay close to You, Lord,
And trust You to lead the way.
As we reach out in serving others,
Let us share Your love each day.

May we be a light on the hillside
Shining bright for all to see.
Help us know the joy of serving,
Ever faithful may we be.

As we worship You together,
And we seek to do Your will,
Keep us shining bright and caring
As Your "Lighthouse on the Hill".

Death Is Not Normal
By Tim Fetrow © November 2008

When Adam & Eve sinned, about 6,000 years ago,
God placed a curse on the earth.

The Curse includes thorns & thistles,
painful child birthing,
struggling to find enough food to eat,
possibly hot & cold weather,
and death!!

Thorns are not normal, they are part of The Curse.
Child birthing should be pain free!
Food should grow naturally and abundantly.
Animals should not fear humans.
And there should be NO death. Death is not normal!!

Prior to The Curse, God designed animals and humans to live forever on the Earth
and to live together in a peaceful environment.

Under The Curse,
"the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain."
(Romans 8:22)

Once The Curse took effect each of us must now die on the earth;
"...it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment."
(Hebrews 9:27)

After we die, our eternal spirit continues to live, either in Heaven or Hell.

**********

Heaven: Apparently, Heaven was not originally planned for humans;

It seems as though we were to live on Earth, and God would actually live among us;
He would simply go back & forth between His Heavenly abode, and earth.

When Jesus was on Earth, He said that He would leave to prepare a place for us in Heaven.
(John 14:3)

This current preparation would then seem to suggest that Heaven was not originally intended for humans.

Hell: The Bible states very clearly that Hell was prepared for the Devil and his angels
(Matthew 25:41)

It was NOT made for humans. But because of sin, humans can now be sent there.

**********

The process of dying can be painful,
and it can be very degrading for "Death" to do it's dastardly deed.

When a human dies, the emotional pain can be very overwhelming for their loved
ones to endure.

When Jesus was on earth the Bible states that even "He wept" due to the death of a friend.
(John 11:35)

Most of us, including Christians, will never "get over" the death of a loved one;
but, hopefully we can find ways to help cope with the death of a loved one and
bring a measure of healing to our emotions.

Here are a few suggestions on how to help ease the pain:

1. Talking to God about the emotional pain.

2. Connect with friends to spend quality time together.

3. Receive professional, Christian-based counseling.

4. Memorializing the loved one:
(visiting their grave-site, looking at photos, etc.)

5. Remembering the good times & events spent with the loved one by doing some of
the very things that you enjoyed while they were alive.

6. Don't hesitate to grieve the loss of your loved one. If you feel that you need to cry, then go ahead and cry!!

7. Volunteer to spend time helping others.

8. Read encouraging books & Devotionals.
